gardai on May 8th. Sean first came to Mullinahone as a young garda twenty one years ago. He was soon to make his mark and them he became sergeant in Nenagh for sometime on being promoted. Sean soon returned as sergeant to Mullinahone where he continued to reside with his wife Rosie and their young family. The fact that Sean was living in Mullinahone was of great assistance to both Sean and to the Mullinahone community. In changing times for the police force residence in the area was a huge benefit to the local area.
He was very interested in sport and like the great Eamon De Valera Sean was born in the USA, though he claimed to be a Clare man. We had to suffer that as Clare climed to the top of the tree in hurling. Sean himself played with Mullinahone and he had his day of glory in 1995, when he scored three goals as Mullinahone won their second South Tipp senior hurling title.
In later years Sean began to look after teams in the local club. He gave great service to St. Michael’s NS, Mullinahone, as they went on to win numerous county schools titles in conjunction with school principal James Cahill.
We would like to thank Sean for his 21 years of caring for the Mullinahone area so that we could live in peace. Thankfully Sean’s retirement is only from the gardai and we look forward to his role in the local community for many years to come.| Comments |
