E-mail Print PDF
MINISTER for Social and Family Affairs, Mary Hanafin, officially opened a new national school at Mohober, Mullinahone on Friday.

The two-teacher school currently has 36 pupils enrolled and consists of two classrooms, a resource room, a combined library/computer room and an office.

It was funded through the Devolved School Scheme with a grant of 350,000 euro.

Officially opening the school Minister Hanafin paid tribute to the hard work of Principal, Ena Lahert, who is due to retire later this year, having worked in Mohober National School for 39 years.

After the official opening of the school building, Minister Hanafin also launched a history of the Mohober National School which was written by past pupil, Michael Fitzgerald.

Minister Hanafin concluded by wishing the staff, Board of Management, parents and, in particular, the students of Mohober National School happiness and success in their new school.

Earlier in the day, the Minister visited St. Michael’s School, Mullinahone. There she was entertained by the pupils from third to sixth classes and also opened the school’s new tennis court.

"And I wouldn't much care for Sierra Leone, If I hadn't seen Killenaule
And the man that was never in Mullinahone,
Shouldn't say he had travelled at all."
